Sony Ericsson’s FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009 Fan Photographer winners joined the action pitch side for the FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009 opening match between host nation South Africa and Iraq. The day’s extravaganza began with the two winners David Patricios and Gary Branfield being interviewed on www.sony.com/football about their experience of being official fan photographers for the opening match. Both winners were extremely excited about the prospect of standing pitch side and within touching distance of the live action.

The first half was enjoyed in the comfort of the stands at Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg, before they were whisked off to meet up with a FIFA representative, who escorted them pitch side to prepare for the second half kick-off. Both winners made use of this once in a lifetime opportunity by taking pictures with their Sony Ericsson C902 and C905 Cyber-shot™ phones of the players and enthusiastic crowd alike. “Seeing the pure joy on the fan photographers faces is testament to what Sony Ericsson South Africa aimed to achieve.” said Sonja Shear, Head of Marketing at Sony Ericsson South Africa.
A few kilometres from Ellis Park Stadium the four winners from Jakaranda Primary School in Mamelodi, Tshwane, Robertha Olifant, Nadine Cyster, Amantle Nkgodi and Chesslynne Fisher were selected as Sony Ericsson Official FIFA Flag Bearers for the FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009. Sony Ericsson representatives and press attended the official handover of soccer balls and training gear to Jacaranda Primary School.
Two additional Sony Ericsson FIFA Flag Bearer handover’s will take place in the coming week, on the 17th June 2009 in Zinniaville, Rustenburg and in Eldorado Park, Johannesburg on the 25th June 2009. The winners of the FIFA Flag Bearer competition will attend the semi-final and final of the FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009 along with the Sony Ericsson FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009 Fan Photographer winners.
